Malecon 2000 is spread on a 2.5 km-long extension from Cuenca street on the south to Las Peñas the historical monumental neighborhood on the north; its final surface area is approximately 20 hectares (50 acres) with approximately 130,000 m2 (32 acres) of roofed area whose commercial layout doesn't exceed 20% of the pier’s total area, and none of its buildings surpass the height of the trees.
It has a mall, a museum, diverse restaurants, exhibition galleries, gardens, lagoons and artificial streams as well as walk paths, and several batteries of toilets distributed along all its extent. It has private security and maintenance.
